Leadership and Systems Change
OAEI is a two-year program introducing district teams to the skills and knowledge needed for school reform. Educators improve their practice and create a dynamic learning community that includes teachers, district superintendents, union presidents and building administrators working collaboratively for change.
OAEI Program Outcomes
- Superintendents, principals and teachers gain skills to address problems of practice within their district in a collaborative manner.
- District and Building teams gain skills in systems thinking, team building, data decision-making and standards alignment that can be applied in their district.
- A network of school leadership teams is established in the region encouraging members to learn from each other how to manage continuous improvement in the region.
- District and Building teams are able to use OAEI tools to engage their communities in a deeper understanding of the region’s link to the global economy and why schools need to change.
Key Components of the OAEI Training Curriculum
- Institute faculty are systems change experts from the Consortium for Educational Change and nationally recognized educators.
- The Systems change and leadership curriculum builds the skills needed to lead change.
- Experienced coach-educator tutors are assigned to each district team.
- Self-defined team projects are designed in year two to plan, manage, implement, and evaluate a school reform that positively impacts student achievement.
